Background Telecommunication Kish
Company (TKC) in brief was incorporated on the Kish Island
known as the Ancient Pearl of the Persian Gulf in December
2000, following the award of a BOT contract with Kish Free
Zone Organization (KFZO) for GSM 900 Mobile and Internet ISP
networks formally operated by KFZO and being the second
national operator. Since the start of TKC commercial
operations in January 2001 the Company aimed at providing the
Kish Island community including Island national and
International visitors in excess of One Million yearly, with
the most technologically advanced Cellular Network.
In
spite of all the start-up challenges operation of the existing
Old Network, TKC installed a new GSM Cellular Network with 20K
active subscribers as phase one. TKC was Launched by Libancell
International Business, Lebanon and the achievement was
possible through joint cooperation with TKC Local Team and
full cooperation from KFZO Management for providing facility
and Logistic support for the Installation and launch of the
Siemens GSM 900 Mobile Network.
Today, TKC serves close
to 6,000 subscribers and employs in excess of 44 highly
qualified professionals and manages a network consisting one
Mobile Switching Center, one Home Location
Registers/Authentication Centers, one Base Station Controllers
and more than 12 Radio Base Stations and Repeaters.
Our
service centers, conveniently located at the Main office HQ
facility responding to over 3000 walk-ins per month and our
call center to an average of 2000 calls per
month.
The
Achievements Telecommunication Kish Company (TKC)
recognized the importance of international roaming due to the
strategic geographical location in The Persian Gulf and the
strategies taken by the Island Management KFZO to promote
International Investors to invest on Kish island being a Free
Zone, TKC introduced roaming services as early as first month
of operation in 2001 and currently has developed International
Roaming with more than 22 countries around the globe and 25
additional countries are close to finalization of
agreements.
In winter of 2003 TKC witnessed the launch
of Short Messaging System (SMS) with International coverage
confirming to more than 150 countries around the globe. This
service is unilateral with the countries that negotiation of
the Roaming agreement is not yet completed.
TKC takes
pride in being a leader on many fronts and more so in its role
and contributions towards social responsibilities. The Company
is committed to supporting athletic activities gaining a Gold
award for the Asian championship in Martial Arts in summer
2003.
